Eurovision 2027 in Burgas: dates, arena, tickets and Varna as a base

Eurovision 2027 is in Burgas: semi-finals on 11 and 13 May, final on 15 May at Arena Burgas. Tickets are not on sale yet. Why Varna is a smart base for fans.

Eurovision 2027 takes place in Burgas, on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast: the semi-finals are on 11 and 13 May and the grand final on 15 May 2027, all at Arena Burgas. Tickets are not on sale yet (Eurovisionworld). For fans who cannot find a room in Burgas, Varna, further north up the coast, is a practical base with its own airport and direct buses.

Why is Eurovision 2027 in Bulgaria?

DARA won the 2026 contest in Vienna on 16 May 2026 with “Bangaranga”, taking both the jury vote and the televote. It was Bulgaria’s first win, so the national broadcaster BNT hosts the 71st contest, the first ever held in the country.

How was Burgas chosen, and what about Varna?

Four cities applied: Burgas, Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna. On 13 July 2026 Varna and Plovdiv went out at the first stage, which checked proposed venues against EBU technical and production requirements. On 13 August BNT and the EBU picked Burgas over Sofia, citing the venue, accommodation, transport links and the city’s plans. According to The Sofia Globe and BNT, Varna, Sofia and Plovdiv will still be part of the accompanying programme, and Varna Airport may help with extra flights.

Where is the venue?

Arena Burgas opened in 2023 and holds up to about 15,000 people for concerts. All three live shows start at 21:00 CEST, which is 22:00 local time in Bulgaria. BNT says rehearsals will be open to the public and that fans without tickets can watch on a big stage in the Eurovision Village. Delegations will be welcomed on a turquoise carpet in the Burgas Sea Garden.

When can I buy Eurovision 2027 tickets?

As of 2026-10, no sale date has been announced. Eurovisionworld expects sales to start no earlier than late 2026, but that is not confirmed. According to The Sofia Globe, fans will need to sign up to Eurofan, the free official fan club, to take part in the sale. Do not buy from resellers before official sales open.

Why stay in Varna?

BNT says the Burgas region has more than 150,000 hotel beds, but rooms close to the arena are likely to go first. Varna offers:

  • Flights: Varna Airport has its own international routes, so you may find better fares than into Burgas.
  • Buses: Varna Central Bus Station has regular direct departures to Burgas from sector 4 (roughly every hour from 07:00 to 18:00, as of 2026-10), taking about 2 hours 30–40 minutes.
  • Trains: the railway runs via Karnobat and is slower than the bus; check BDZ for current times.
  • By car: driving gives you the most flexibility after late shows.

How should I plan?

  1. Book a refundable room now, in Varna or Burgas, and adjust once you have tickets.
  2. The shows start at 22:00 local time, so check the last bus back before relying on public transport; a night in Burgas or a shared car is usually easier on show nights.
  3. Give yourself spare days for the Eurovision Village and the wider programme.

What we will update

We will add ticket sale dates, prices, extra flights and transport for show nights as soon as the EBU or BNT confirms them. For the bigger picture of the region’s tourism, see our August 2026 tourism figures. Plans for the city’s tourism to 2035 are on the agenda of the Black Sea Tourism Forum in Varna on 30–31 October.

Where should I stay for Eurovision 2027 if Burgas is full?

Varna is the obvious alternative, with its own airport and direct buses to Burgas that take about two and a half hours. The resorts on the coast between the two cities are another option.
