Summer 2027: new direct flights from Germany to Varna

Six German airports will get new direct flights to Varna in summer 2027. Bulgaria’s Ministry of Tourism announced the plans on 28 August 2026. Corendon Airlines will fly from Cologne/Bonn, Nuremberg and Stuttgart. A programme sold through ICC will link Hanover, Düsseldorf and Leipzig/Halle with Varna and Burgas from 9 May to 3 October 2027, with at least 14 flights a week.

Which airlines and German cities are on the list?

The routes below come from the ministry announcement, as reported by Flagman.bg, Varna24 and The Sofia Globe. Details come from the German trade press (as of 2026-10).

Bulgarian media name “ICC” as the carrier. According to aviation.direct, ICC (International Carrier Consult) is the German sales agent of BH Air. This Bulgarian charter airline operates the flights. It reports the first flight as Düsseldorf–Burgas on 9 May and the first from Hanover on 11 May.

How many flights a week will there be?

The ministry says the BH Air/ICC programme will have at least 14 flights a week to Varna and Burgas combined. Each of the three German airports gets at least two a week to each Bulgarian airport. Hanover–Burgas and Leipzig/Halle–Burgas get three a week. For Varna that means at least six a week. Corendon plans up to eight weekly connections to Varna and Burgas together, according to aviation.direct. aeroTELEGRAPH reports Nuremberg–Varna on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

What is not confirmed yet?

• Condor: the ministry is only in “active talks” to add Bulgaria to its network. FAR Agency and the other reports give no routes or dates.
• “More than 100,000 seats”: Travel And Tour World wrote on 7 October 2026 that the ministry had contracted over 100,000 seats for summer 2027. We could not find this figure in a ministry statement, and it is not split by country.
• Exact timetables and fares: check them with the airline or your tour operator before you plan around a flight.

What it means for Varna

German visitors are a key market for the northern coast. FAR Agency notes that charter flights from Germany to the Bulgarian coast were sharply cut in 2026 because of airline problems. The new routes add to Eurowings, Discover Airlines, TUIfly, Sundair, Freebird and Wizz Air, which already fly to Bulgaria. For German-speaking travellers planning summer 2027, the main change is choice. There are more departure airports in the north, west and south of Germany, with Varna as the gateway to Golden Sands and Albena.
